Bio
I'm Amanda Christianson — a Sr. Director of Product Engineering with over a decade of experience bridging design thinking and production engineering. I currently lead product and technical work at Farsight Group, LLC, where my primary focus is Classic Firearms, a large-scale e-commerce platform with 50,000+ SKUs. My day-to-day spans everything from PHP and platform architecture to sprint planning, agency partnerships, and code reviews.
I started as a front-end developer and have grown into a role that's equal parts engineering lead, product owner, and technical strategist. I'm most at home in the space where complex systems meet real user and business outcomes — whether that's untangling a production incident or scoping a platform migration that will shape the next five years of a business.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time outdoors watching birds, hiking, backpacking, and kayaking. I'm based in the Charlotte area.
How I work
Whether I'm reviewing a pull request or evaluating a $350K platform migration, I'm always asking: what are the second-order effects? Where are the failure modes? What's the real cost?
I write things down. Good decisions get documented. Reasoning gets shared. I believe the best technical leadership creates clarity — for engineers, for agency partners, for stakeholders who don't live in the codebase.
I move between layers comfortably. I can write code, review PRs, lead a retro, and present the strategy deck — sometimes in the same day. I don't believe in rigid role boundaries when the work calls for something different.
I'm a collaborator and I care about the people I work with having context, ownership, and room to do good work. Strong teams ship better things.
